RE:CONNECT – STANDARD: Tent

Adventure awaits! With this basic option you'll be staying in a tent – as close to nature as (almost) possible

Where you'll be staying

Close to nature

The standard option is tent and if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can choose to sleep under the stars. If you're opting for a bit more comfort, you can easily upgrade. You’ll be staying in basic accommodation – most of the trip you’ll be staying in mountain chalets. Don’t expect luxury hotels, but rather authentic places surrounded by what you came to experience: Nature. The accommodation might not qualify for 5 stars, but the views you’ll wake up to definitely will.

FAQs

All personal equipment including:

  • Hiking shoes and trousers
  • Breathable, quick-drying, sports clothes
  • Sandals
  • A swimsuit and towel
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunblock)
  • Warm layers for the evenings
  • A small backpack to carry personal items throughout the day (water, snacks, shirts to use during activities).
  • Sleeping bag (for those sleeping in a tent)
  • Shorts
  • Energy/protein bars (but you can buy those in Belgrade)
  • A positive attitude.

This journey starts in Belgrade, Serbia. Our pro-tip is to arrive a couple of days in advance to visit the city. Since this itinerary will mostly be exploring the beautiful nature in Balkan, and not the bigger cities, this is your chance to get a feel of a Balkan capital. If you're mostly here for the nature bits (or can't take more time off), you can also arrive on the day the trip starts.

You can either get picked up at your hotel in the city, at the bus station in the city center, or at the airport on the day the journey begins. From there, adventure in nature awaits!

Our journey ends in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Due to local regulation, we're only allowed to transfer you to the airport, but not to worry! From there, you can easily get into the city with a local bus or with a local taxi if your flight departs later that day or if you choose to extend your stay.

You can also go real slow and take the train home, of course. Reach out if you need help!

None at all. We will cover the basics and make sure you're comfortable (yet challenged) all the way.

On re:discover journeys, we like to keep groups small. This helps you better assimilate into the local communities you'll be visiting, and gives space for you to truly connect and get to know your fellow travel mates. Group size will vary but expect around 6 to 12 people.

If you want to go all-in and get even closer to nature, we recommend the standard tent option. If you choose this option, remember your sleeping bag! If you want a bit more comfort, you can choose choose to upgrade your accommodation. You can choose between a shared twin room or shared triple room.

Yes. If you choose the tent option, you will have to set it up yourself. But not to worry, you will learn in no time. Just remember to pack a sleeping bag if you choose the tent. Matts will be provided along with extra blankets if needed.

Yes. They are made for three people, but you'll only be two in there for extra space. You'll learn to set it up in no time and a sleeping bag is the only extra thing you need to bring, if you choose this option.

No. you don't have to sleep in a tent – if you choose the twin or triple upgrade, you will be sleeping inside with solid walls around you. The accommodation is basic mountain chalets, but in beds, under blankets, if that's what you prefer.

You will be sharing with one of your co-travelers. Maybe your next BFF or TBFL (travel buddy for life)? Because we try to gather people with similar interests who are in the same place in life, we're convinced that you will find people to bond with on your trip, and one of the best ways is to share a room with them.

The short answer is yes. There is a twin option (standard or tent) or tripple option, but in some of the chalets we visit, there are also triple and quadruple rooms. If you're a couple, we can arrange a double option in some cases as well.

HOWEVER, if you're a group of more than two friends traveling together, we recommend that you mix it up a bit so that you're not isolating yourself from the rest of the group.

It is important that you are still willing to open up and socialize with other travelers on your trip. Since our groups are small and filled with like-minded adventurers, we believe that coming with an open mind and openness to connect with new people will truly elevate your experience.

We recommend that you do! Either arrive early and get a feel of a Balkan capital in Belgrade (and former capital of Yugoslavia) or stay longer to explore more of Croatia. We've set this trip to two weeks so that you won't have to take off too much time from work, but if this is not a concern of yours, well, then it's almost an obligation to stay a bit longer.

Well, we like to travel slow to get the most out of our trips, but we also understand that not everyone has that privilege. If you arrive early in Belgrade, we recommend a couple of days to explore the city's architecture, the bohemian quarter of Skadarlija and its nightlife, or venture to the old town of Dorcol.

As we end the trip in Dubrovnik, there's an obvious chance to extend your stay and see a bit more than on your transfer to this popular, old town (known from Game of Thrones). You should stay to go out of the city and visit the nearby waterfalls, the beautiful coast, the local history and so on.

To sum up: You can easily spend a couple of days in Belgrade before the trip starts and a week after it ends in Croatia.

Well, we're with you on this one – we would've loved to include all the reasons to extend your stay on either end, even so, we think that you're ready to go off on your own after two weeks of intense nature time. At the same time, not everyone can take more time off, and this way you get the best of nature in Balkan in just a couple of weeks.

Did we not answer all of your questions? Not to worry – you can always ask! There are no stupid questions. Well, not a lot anyway. We're always happy to help – even if some questions might be silly to us, if we haven't answered them clearly by now, it's on us.

Plus, we love it when you get in touch!
